Whimsical Christmas Tree Cookie Stacks that are fun to make and perfect for holiday gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 tube sugar cookie dough
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 Tbsp heavy cream
  • Green food coloring
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Christmas nonpareils
  • Yellow mini M&Ms or sprinkle stars

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Create cookie balls of varying sizes (1, 2, and 3 teaspoons) and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. Bake for 5 minutes, then carefully remove the smallest cookies and return the larger ones to bake for an additional 3-4 minutes.
  4. Let cookies cool on a wire rack.
  5. In a bowl, beat softened butter until light and fluffy, then gradually mix in powdered sugar.
  6. Add vanilla extract, heavy cream, green food coloring, and salt; blend until smooth.
  7. Transfer frosting to a piping bag with a star tip.
  8. Pipe frosting on the largest cookie, add the medium cookie, repeat, and finish with the smallest cookie on top.
  9. Decorate with nonpareils and a star or yellow M&M.
  10. Serve on a festive platter.

Notes

Keep an eye on baking times to avoid overbaking. Allow cookies to cool completely before stacking.
